Best of the Downloads, Vols. 1 and 2, is now available exclusively at shows and from SteveForbert.com.  Since January 2005 SteveForbert.com has posted over 80 live and rare recordings as free downloads available only through this site. This two-CD set features 34 of the very best of these, plus 4 tracks that will remain exclusive to this collection, including performances with the Soundbenders and a guest appearance by Al Kooper.

See Discography for a complete track listing.

SteveForbert.com is offering a new four song download (featuring the unreleased track "Underwatertown") to benefit victims of the recent flooding in Iowa. We have selected The Iowa Artist Relief Fund, which is being set up by Legion Arts in Cedar Rapids, Iowa (Steve did a solo show at this venue in March of 2007), to receive all of the profits from this download.  This fund will provide support to individual artists who have lost studios and tools, equipment and musical instruments, canvases and manuscripts, photos and archives, even their homes, as a result of the flooding.  Order today!

There are now ten overseas solo concert dates set for November --- three in Sweden, four in the UK, two in Belgium, and one in Scotland. These will be Steve's first shows in Sweden and Belgium since 1992.  See tour dates for all the info.

On October 4, 2007, Steve Forbert and The Soundbenders played a benefit show at the MSU Riley Arts Center in Meridian, Mississippi. The concert (in Meridian’s beautifully restored 1920’s opera house) was in support of Love's Kitchen, a local “food bank” operated by Steve’s schoolmate, Ruth Vinson.

Founded in 1986, Love's Kitchen was able to rebuild after severe damage from Hurricane Katrina and now continues to provide a year round food service for the Meridian area needy.

The concert was recorded in sixteen track by Clay Barnes and is being mixed and mastered by Robby Turner, who is currently co-producing a new studio album with Steve for release next year on the 429 label.

We are planning an early November release for a double disc set from this event!

Along with the concert CD, the package will include a concert DVD of selected songs. The DVD will also feature bonus tracks such as In The Jailhouse Now #2!

Over the next few months we will be posting preview audio selections -- Stay tuned for complete CD and DVD track listings!

Steve’s DVD, In Concert, is now available in our Web Store and in stores. The program was edited from a three-camera shoot at Tales from the Tavern in Buellton, CA, on October 5, 2004. The DVD also features two bonus videos from the Strange Names & New Sensations CD. Included songs are:

It's Been a Long Time
The American in Me
Miss the Mississippi and You
There's Everybody Else (and Then There's You)
Steve Forbert's Moon River
Starstruck
I Just Work Here
It Sure Was Better Back Then
Say Goodbye to Little Jo
About a Dream
Goodnight
Romeo's Tune
What It Is Is a Dream
You Cannot Win (If You Do Not Play)

Keith Urban’s version of “Romeo’s Tune” can be found on his greatest hits CD, 18 Kids, which was released November 28, 2007, or the new 19 Kids which was released August 19, 2008.

Steve’s latest studio album, Strange Names & New Sensations, is available on our site (Go to our web store to order today) and in stores. It was released in June 2007 on 429 Records, a division of the Savoy label group (who released the tribute CD Endless Highway: The Music of The Band)

The twelve tracks— including a new rendition of “Romeo’s Tune”— feature Paul Errico on keyboards; Robby Turner, pedal steel; Roger Clark (who, like Paul, goes back as far as Jackrabbit Slim), drums; Marc Muller, various instruments; Garry Tallent, bass; and Anthony Crawford, various instruments and backing vocals.

The collection includes “Middle Age,” “Simply Spalding Gray,” which is somewhat of a tribute to the late actor/monologist, and “North New Jersey” (“Strange names, North New Jersey ’s got ‘em”—see the video now!).

The October 11, 2007, Blue Rock Studio concert in Wimberley, TX, was filmed in high definition and recorded in multitrack. This concert is not currently available but a sample of the concert can be seen here.

Now available for free download on our website's Live, Rare, and Unreleased Recordings: "Romeo's Tune" (from the show at the Palladium in New York City on November 24, 1979), "The Baghdad Dream," and "It Is What It Is (And That's All)."
